在这里学什么?Music is art in sound, universally beloved and an essential part of every culture on earth. People around the world use music to celebrate, commemorate, communicate, worship, and share their deepest emotions—to express what words cannot. Students who major in music can focus on the art of performing, the history of music, music technology, the role of music in culture, and methods of teaching music.
Strengths of the program
Learn from acclaimed faculty. The music faculty at WSU includes Fulbright Scholars and national award winners, including the American Prize in Composition and nomination for the Pulitzer Prize.
Faculty members have extensive and varied professional experience as teachers, composers, and performers; they participate in international performances and collaborations in Europe and Asia; they lead national, regional, and state music organizations; and they have won multiple WSU awards for excellence in teaching.
WSU music programs have a high level of student involvement and leadership.
The Kimbrough Music Building houses an extensive music listening library, professional quality recording studio, electronic music lab, concert hall, large ensemble rehearsal rooms, practice rooms, and classrooms.
It's a good idea to have additional preparation, especially if you're planning to major in music. If you can, prepare yourself through:
Training or exposure to music theory concepts Keyboard skills (regardless of performance area) Lessons in at least one instrument or performance area

What you can do with a degree in Music
• Perform music professionally including concerts, theatrical productions, tours, shows, nightclub appearances, and recording sessions
• Compose music for live performances, recordings, and multimedia
• Conduct professional, school, and community ensembles
• Teach music in universities, colleges, public schools, and private studios
• Work for music-oriented companies in music sales, for musical product and instrument manufacturers, in arts administration, and in music promotion, production, and management

为来自中国的学生设计 Student needs to complete at least 12 years of school, culminating in an appropriate secondary certificate or external examination. (We may consider the first year or two of university in some countries to be secondary level). Schooling should include preparation in humanities, mathematics, basic sciences, and social sciences. WSU requires a minimum grade point average of 2.70 (on a 4.00 scale) for admission as an international freshman.
