专业概况

Learn to design cities of the future at our urban laboratory in Indianapolis, the state’s capital, and the nation’s 12th largest city. Our master of urban design (MUD) community located at the College of Architecture and Planning’s Indy Connector learns through innovative, real-world experiences throughout the state and nation.

Curriculum

The program is a 32-credit, one-year post-professional degree that requires a core understanding of environmental design, design thinking, and relationships between sites, people, and contexts. You’ll participate in studio- and community-based courses taught by an interdisciplinary team of professors from Ball State’s Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning.

Community-Oriented Projects

All of your studios and core courses will focus on urban design for real-world sites in the Indianapolis area and beyond. From the urban design analysis studio to your capstone project, you'll become intimately familiar with a site, its stakeholders, and its challenges and opportunities, just as you will as a professional urban designer.

Community Workshops

You'll also participate in multidisciplinary charrettes—community design workshops— through the efforts of the College of Architecture and Planning's Indy Connector. For decades, CAP students and faculty have been part of the service-learning tradition in Indianapolis and hundreds of other communities. This nationally recognized program provides students with a 360-degree view of living, learning, and serving in a growing and diverse metropolitan center.
