专业概况
在这里学什么?Prepare for or advance in any number of careers across environmental and geological sciences. Our master of science in geology and natural resources will provide you with the specialized knowledge you’ll need to work in the oil and mining industries, environmental consulting, resource management, and more.
As one of our student’s, you’ll attend classes that are small enough for you to get direct attention from our supportive faculty. But we are big enough to provide you with the resources and opportunities you’ll need to experience insightful field studies, work with faculty on their nationally published research, and successfully secure employment or career advancement after graduation.
Program Requirements
This master’s program is research-intensive and focuses on a thesis, which includes a one-credit research colloquium each Fall and Spring semester of full-time study. You’ll determine your thesis topic by the end of your second semester. In order to graduate you will need to publicly defend your thesis to a committee and receive its approval.
Courses
The curriculum has four major components:
core requirements (research methodology courses) – 6 credits courses directed by the thesis committee – 12 credits thesis requirements – 6 credits approved graduate electives in geology or natural resources and environmental management – 6 credits
