Overview

Our BEng (Hons) provides a broad-based education in electrical and electronic engineering. During the first three years students study topics from low current electronics to high power systems. In Year 4 you can choose from a set of specialist courses to complement your thesis topic selection.

Graduate destinations

Our Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduates are highly employable and have progressed to careers in a wide range of industries, working for organisations such as Bosch, Rolls Royce, Leonardo, Mott MacDonald, BP and Texas Instruments.

Accreditation

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an incorporated engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a chartered engineer.

Teaching and Learning

This programme is offered in a traditional campus-based, cohort model, with a timetable devised to support full-time study. Within the timetable, courses offer traditional lecture-based materials, small group tutorials and a variety of laboratorybased practicals. Students are expected to complete coursework in groups, teams and pairs, as well as individually, and courses offer a range of types of coursework for assessment, from discursive essay-style assignments to software and hardware design and generation. In some courses, team teaching approaches are adopted to provide additional support and variety, and electronic support, predominantly in the form of the VISION system will be available. The level and type of support available via VISION will vary between the courses as is appropriate for the subject matter.

Assessment

The assessment policy for the programme incorporates a range of assessment types. Formative work is scheduled during the courses as part of the coursework, the laboratory and tutorial sessions, to provide feedback on performance. Continuous assessment during courses is in the form of practical work, tutorial work and assignments. Summative assessments at the conclusion of the courses contribute to the overall assessment and are used formally to measure achievement in specified learning outcomes. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and personal development as the programme progresses.

为来自中国的学生设计 If you have obtained very good grades in qualification such as A-Levels, you would be eligible to apply for advanced entry into Year 2 of our programmes. You require IELTS 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each element or an acceptable equivalent.
