Program Description

Are you wired for weather? Do you wonder why weather changes when it does and what it is that keeps Michigan’s weather so unpredictable? Discover the answers in CMU’s meteorology program - the only such undergraduate degree in Michigan. You’ll strengthen your education by conducting field research or working on campus at CMU’s state-of-the-art weather station that’s equipped with a weather balloon and advanced technology. CMU’s program meets the requirements of the National Weather Service and produces graduates who work as lead meteorologists around the world.u200bu200b

CMU’s meteorology program meets the guidelines specified for a Bachelor of Science degree by the American Meteorological Society, as well as the requirements outlined by the National Weather Service. This is considered to be the highest level of accreditation for undergraduate atmospheric science programs.

Our program provides students with the expertise necessary to attend graduate school, forecast for the National Weather Service, broadcast weather for television and radio, or work in the commercial weather industry.

Graduate School

• Many of the opportunities below require students first attend graduate school
• The BS in meteorology qualifies students to attend graduate school in a variety of disciplines, including Geography, Environmental Science, Earth System Science, Climatology, and even Law School
• Typically, graduate students have their tuition paid for and receive a stipend for living expenses through employment as a teaching or research assistant

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have attended all secondary and post-secondary institutions. English language requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (minimum score of 550 PBT, 213 CBT, or 79 IBT), International English Language Testing System (minimum score of 6.5), Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (minimum score of 77), Pearson Test of English (minimum score of 53), ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112.
