Program Description

Environmental scientists use their interdisciplinary knowledge to investigate environmental systems and explore their relationship to our everyday lives. While studying environmental science at CMU you will learn to sample, analyze, model, interpret and predict earth system properties and address environmental problems. At CMU you will gain the knowledge and skills to understand and make a difference in the world around you.

u200bIn CMU's environmental science program, you'll acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to understand our ever-changing environment. Environmental scientists play an important role in our society through cleaning up polluted areas, advising policy makers, and working with industry to reduce impacts on the environment.

Career Opportunities

As our environment has become increasingly stressed and the importance of environmental sustainability has been realized, employment has increased in environmentally related fields. Employment of environmental scientists and specialists is projected to grow 15 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations.

English language requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (minimum score of 550 PBT, 213 CBT, or 79 IBT), International English Language Testing System (minimum score of 6.5), Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (minimum score of 77), Pearson Test of English (minimum score of 53), ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112.
