Sitting behind a desk, pushing a pencil, and negotiating business deals aren't everybody's dream of landing the perfect job. If you are the type of person who craves fresh air, adventure, and a close relationship with the natural environment, then outdoor recreation may be the career for you. As an outdoor recreation professional, you may work in a variety of areas including camps, outdoor or environmental education programs, parks, and adventure programs. Although you will likely work in an outdoor setting, you will often perform administrative duties such as planning and supervising the work of others. You may work with children, adults, community groups, families and people with disabilities.u200b u200b

Highlights about the Program

Finish up your academic career with a 30-week internship, the longest of any recreation program in the nation.

Learn from faculty, all of whom have professional outdoor experience, in classes that emphasis service learning with a variety of hands-on, practically applied projects and assignments.

Take classes or workshops to become nationally certified or gain skills as a Leave No Trace Trainer, American Canoe Association Canoe Touring Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, Belay and High Ropes certification, or as a Project WILD or Project Learning Tree participant.

English language requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (minimum score of 550 PBT, 213 CBT, or 79 IBT), International English Language Testing System (minimum score of 6.5), Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (minimum score of 77), Pearson Test of English (minimum score of 53), ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112.
