Course overview

The security of computers, systems and information is of paramount importance to all nations. In response to security dangers, this course will give you knowledge of the threats, and provide you with the chance to gain the skills and expertise to investigate, police, and react accordingly, and to protect systems and organisations.

This includes several experts actively engaged in the field, who are able to provide expertise in investigation and cybercrime; in the practice of and theory behind exploitation and protection (security) measures; and in the application of cybersecurity aspects to business and organisations.

Teaching methods

Our modules are varied in their teaching methods. The majority of your time will be spent in computer laboratories for the practical subjects. Small group discussions, tutorials, and student-led seminars also figure prominently.

Assessment

Assessment employs assignments, project work and examinations. In line with the requirements of industry, all of our modules have been designed from the ground up to incorporate assessment of key skills, as well as subject-related skills.

Job prospects

Cybersecurity graduates are in great demand across a variety of jobs, including in policing, in the goverment and government-run bodies, in industry from small companies to the very largest, in banking, and in the military and intelligence agencies.
