Course description
Our MSc Advanced Restorative Dentistry course is aimed at dentists who want to develop skills in this area.
You will cover areas such as:
- aesthetic considerations in restorative practice;
- current techniques, materials and clinical advances in restorative techniques;
- patient communication and advanced treatment planning of patients;
- tooth replacement;
- current clinical techniques for soft tissue management;
- working as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive aesthetic restorative care to patients.
You will also gain practical experience of the following through the mandatory hands-on component of the course, which is completed during a residential in both years of the course:
- advanced anterior/posterior restorations and aesthetics;
- complex treatment planning;
- occlusion;
- bonding and cementation;
- indirect restorations.
Aims
This course aims to:
- provide innovative teaching and learning that enhances current knowledge and clinical skills in advanced restorative dentistry;
- present sound academic theory and high-quality practical training in advanced restorative dentistry concepts by world-class mentors;
- provide you with the confidence and ability to enhance your current clinical practice by incorporating the latest advances in technology and research, ensuring evidence based practice as well as biocompatible, functional and long-lasting restorative care;
- deliver learning using the latest technology, enabling you to access the course regardless of place or time zone while maintaining your dental practice.
Coursework and assessment
The majority of course unit assessments will be completed online, including the MCQ examination, and will include the preparation and presentation of clinical and written work, and competency case assessments.
For the Research Methods component, formal assessment takes the form of two tutor-marked assignments.
