COURSE OVERVIEW

The MA in Modern History is ideal if you have a dedicated interest in the modern period and the emergence of modernity characteristics from the pre-modern world. Our modern historians at Swansea University have a great mix of expertise encompassing Welsh, British, European and global history. Their specialisms include economic and industrial history, questions of identity and nationality, imperialism, medicine, politics, sexuality, and sport.

Swansea University has a long established profile for excellence in the study of modern history. Many graduates of this MA course have also studied for their doctorate here. The College of Arts and Humanities is based on our inspirational Singleton Park campus, in parkland overlooking Swansea Bay. Designed to promote individual and collaborative research activity of international standard, the Graduate Centre provides a supportive environment for postgraduate research and taught masters study. It offers postgraduate training to enhance academic and professional development, and facilitates seminar programmes, workshops and international conferences.
