UMSL Cyber Start Grant for Fall 2020 - Under this scheme, F1 international students who are unable to report to campus this fall due to COVID19 are able to pay a reduced rate of tuition. • This will only be for the Fall 2020 semester as the students should be on campus in Spring 2021 paying regular rates. • Any UMSL Global scholarship awarded for Fall 2020 would be deferred until Spring 2021. • Students must be enrolled in a degree program conducive to online learning.

The BS in Economics provides more in-depth development of the analytical and quantitative skills used in economic analysis, including coursework in calculus and econometrics. This quantitative skill set is highly valued by employers as demonstrated by the considerable employment success of our BS graduates. BS students can further distinguish themselves to employers with a Certificate in Applied Econometrics and Data Analysis.

Degree Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Economics

Candidates for the BS degree must complete at least 36, but no more than 50, hours in economics. At least 30 hours must be above the 2000 level. All required courses for the major must be completed with a grade of C- or better. The following courses are required:

• Economics 1001, Principles of Microeconomics
• Economics 1002, Principles of Macroeconomics
• Economics 3001, Intermediate Economic Theory: Microeconomics
• Economics 3002, Intermediate Economic Theory: Macroeconomics
• Economics 3100, Economic Statistics
• Economics 3200, Money, Banking, and Monetary Theory
• Economics 4100, Introduction to Econometrics
• Mathematics 1800, Analytic Geometry and Calculus I; or Mathematics 1100, Basic Calculus

Also required are two of the following:

• Economics 4030, Managerial Economics
• Economics 4040, Analysis of Business Cycles
• Economics 4110, Applied Econometrics
• Economics 4120, Time Series Econometrics for Economics and Finance
• Economics 4130, Econometric and Time Series Forecasting
• Economics 4150, Mathematical Economics
• Economics 4160, Geospatial Economic Analysis
• Economics 4170, Fundamentals of Cost-Benefit Analysis
• or any mathematics course numbered 1900 or above (with consent of advisor)

为来自中国的学生设计 Official transcripts: Students in their last year of high school should submit transcripts for all years completed thus far. Students who have completed high school must submit final transcripts and degree certificates or exam results. Students who have studied at a college or university must submit university transcripts to date. If you have completed more than 24 credit hours at a university, you do not need to submit high school transcripts. Transcripts are required from all high schools or universities attended. Proof of English proficiency: Minimum requirements are 61 TOEFL, 5.5 IELTS, or 44 PTE-A, 85-90 Duolingo.
