Prepare yourself for an ever-growing industry that combines computer science and digital media to create animation, computer games, computer graphics and information visualisation. Graduates have in-demand skills and the ability to develop systems and solutions for the digital media world.

What you will study

First year

A typical first year may include:

• core topics in fundamentals of computing, fundamentals of information and communication technology, computer programming, simulation and serious game design, professional skills, convergence cultures, and essential media

Second year

A typical second year may include:

• core topics in software engineering, database and conceptual modelling, web-based systems development, computer networks and operating systems, and interaction design
• study of computer programming or application development
• elective topics in interaction design, digital graphic design, multimedia production, and digital games
• study of mathematics, mathematics fundamentals or data science.

Third year

A typical third year may include:

• core topics in enterprise cloud systems, interactive computer systems, computer game development, project management for engineering and science, and 3D media studio
• a digital media technical project and a selection of computing elective topics, or an information technology practicum and workplace preparation.

Honours year

A typical honours year may include:

• an honours thesis
• a selection of computer, science, engineering and mathematics topics.
