If you are interested in pursuing a graduate degree that takes an interdisciplinary approach, focuses on developing marketable skills, and enhances your knowledge of yourself, your community, and the world, then the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) is for you!

MALS students can explore traditional topics with an interdisciplinary approach or engage in cross-disciplinary studies such as science and religion, memory and creativity, race and racism in America. the impact of the 1960s, and more. These courses are linked through their emphasis on five key skills that are broadly applicable beyond the classroom:

Effective communication with a variety of audiences in a variety of media in a variety of contexts Effective collaboration in complex and sustained projects that require substantial teamwork with others. including those who might hold different opinions or objectives. Quantitative literacy that fosters understanding of and communication of information with numbers - that is, the ability to use numbers to tell a story. Adaptability to new professional challenges, being able to work responsively and imaginatively on projects and plans, even in areas beyond their subject matter expertise. Digital literacy that encompasses a working knowledge of digital tools and platforms and their application to specialized projects and goals.

The MALS includes online, traditional, and hybrid courses, that is flexible enough to accommodate both full-time and part-time students.
